New CD: Being Here

"Being Here" is a project near and dear to my heart. The 70’s Americana vibe is deeply rooted in the music I grew up listening to in Detroit. I am sure I spent everyday after school learning the songs of Joni Mitchell, CSN & Y, Buffy St. Marie, Carly Simon, Arlo Guthrie, Carole King, etc. The songs on “Being Here” came from my observations in my own life and those of people around me. Watching a friend go through an unimaginable loss, feeling the joy of a love so pure, saying goodbye to someone I loved deeply, saying hello to a new life, standing up for what’s right and saying goodbye to what’s wrong…being present in each and every day…and being grateful for all the blessings…these are the songs on “Being Here”. I would love to hear what these songs bring up for you.

Special Benefit Concert for Meals on Wheels SF

Thank you for making our 2nd annual Meals on Wheels benefit concert a success!

We sold out again this year and raised enough money to provide 3500 meals for the wonderful clients at Meals on Wheels – San Francisco. 100% of the proceeds of my CD “Christmas on Pine Mountain” will continue to be donated to Meals on Wheels-SF and makes a great gift. In this season of giving, I want to thank everyone for joining me in helping the seniors in San Francisco.

Christmas on Pine Mountain

"Christmas on Pine Mountain" is a benefit CD for Meals on Wheels-San Francisco. The idea for this Christmas record came to me as I was going through a box of old ornaments, remembering the happy Christmas memories of my childhood. I hopes that the songs will bring a bit of holiday cheer and some happiness for the listener. When thinking of Christmas I always remembers my family and especially my Grandmother who put enough love in my childhood to sustain a lifetime. Mom Finds Second Life Singing

For many moms, once their kids head off to college it’s time to pick up a hobby and start a new life. For San Anselmo mom Michelle Schmitt, that went a step further than book clubs or knitting circles.

Schmitt, who has been involved in music since she was 12, has found a second life as a singer, with a wealth of CDs of what she calls “chick music” and her own studios in both San Francisco and Alexander Valley in Sonoma.

“My whole musical life just came alive again,” said Schmitt.

Harrison Street Records has expanded...

Michelle and her team of engineers have completed her new state of the art recording studio in Alexander Valley called Pine Mountain Studio. Located in Northern California, Michelle and her band enjoy the benefits of getting away from it all and focusing solely on the music. It’s a recipe for more amazing music.

“Being Here" was just recorded at PIne Mountain Studio in August. This is a collection of original Americana songs written and produced by Michelle. Look for a release date near the end of the year. Michelle says, "I have a special place in my heart for the music that inspired me to play guitar and sing when I was a young girl. Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Arlo Guthrie, Buffy St. Marie, Carole King, Jesse Colin Young, and many others."
